Chester, A Real Survivor

January 26, 2010
Posted by Beth Kemler

This poor kitty was found in October dragging himself into the backyard of a woman living in rural VA. Once at the shlelter, he was x-rayed and found to have a broken jaw, a broken leg and buckshot in his side. He also had a mouth full of broken teeth and was so skinny it was not clear how he was still alive. The shelter begged us to take him and we did! Our vet confirmed his dire status, including an infection that had set in.

We have since beat the infection and with a donation of $300 had tests run to find why he continues to be so skinny and sickly. This week, we were able to get Chester neutered (YAY) but we found he has actually lost weight - you can still feel every bone in his little body. Our friends at the Capital Cat Clinic neutered him and now feel more tests are needed to figure out what hidden illness is keeping him so sickly.

We are determined to give him a long, healthy life. They LOVED him at the vet. We have already spent the donations to get him this far. We now desperately need another $300 for additional testing and possble x-rays. This boy has had a terrible life - likely the victim of vicious abuse. But he purrs now, loves to cuddle and eat his treat and he greets all other kitties with a soft touch of the nose. Please make a donation to help Chester! Go to our donation page and enter "Chester" as the cat you're sponsoring.
