Chester
Chester, A Real Survivor
January 26, 2010This poor kitty was found in October dragging himself into the backyard of a woman living in rural VA. Once at the shlelter, he was x-rayed and found to have a broken jaw, a broken leg and buckshot in his side. He also had a mouth full of broken teeth and was so skinny it was not clear how he was still alive. The shelter begged us to take him and we did! Our vet confirmed his dire status, including an infection that had set in.
We have since beat the infection and with a donation of $300 had tests run to find why he continues to be so skinny and sickly. This week, we were able to get Chester neutered (YAY) but we found he has actually lost weight - you can still feel every bone in his little body. Our friends at the Capital Cat Clinic neutered him and now feel more tests are needed to figure out what hidden illness is keeping him so sickly.
We are determined to give him a long, healthy life. They LOVED him at the vet. We have already spent the donations to get him this far. We now desperately need another $300 for additional testing and possble x-rays. This boy has had a terrible life - likely the victim of vicious abuse. But he purrs now, loves to cuddle and eat his treat and he greets all other kitties with a soft touch of the nose. Please make a donation to help Chester! Chester Update
November 09, 2009Chester is still having problems with his jaw and his leg but he is eating well now (asks for his wet food constantly!) and loves to sit by the window and purr in the sunshine.
Chester: Banged up but now safe!
November 05, 2009Chester the kitty has such a sad story. He was found in King George, VA by a resident who saw him dragging himself into her back yard on a cold wet day. She called animal control who picked him up and took him to the shelter. He was sick, underweight by almost 8 lbs, and once x-rayed found to have a broken leg, a broken jaw, many missing teeth AND buckshot in his side. It is most likely this kitty was badly abused.
Set to be euthanized, the kind shelter volunteer worked hard to get him out. Homeward Trails stepped up. Poor Chester had been in pain for months. After many tests and vet visits, it is still unclear how Chester got so beat up. But he is in a warm foster home now!
