Ritchie Shelter Fire
Adoption Event & Fundraiser for Ritchie Animal Shelter
March 22, 2010In January, Homeward Trails animal shelter partner Ritchie County Humane Society suffered a devastating loss: a fire swept through the building that housed the dogs and cats awaiting rescue, killing the animals and causing tens of thousands of dollars of damage.
This Sunday, HT is holding an adoption event highlighting dogs who we've rescued and brought to the DC area from the Ritchie shelter at BARK! pet store in Olney, MD. In addition, 10% of the proceeds from both the Olney and Clarksville BARK! stores on Sunday, March 28th will be donated to Ritchie County Humane Society.

Fire Strikes HT Shelter Partner- Please Help!
January 13, 2010Last night, a devestating fire hit Ritchie County Animal Shelter in West Virginia, one of the shelters Homeward Trails works regularly with. The building that housed cats, puppies and kittens burned entirely, killing more than 50 cats and kittens, several puppies, at least one mother dog and a few small dogs. The shelter also lost all of its supplies. They now have no food or medication for the animals who did survive. The shelter staff is devestated, as are we at HT. Please help if you can!
