Thank you for your interest in volunteering
for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Homeward Trails has rescued
over 3,000 animals through an amazing network of dedicated
volunteers who perform a variety of tasks that help save the
lives of animals in need.
Volunteers are critical to our success and perform
many vital functions at Homeward Trails. You will find a number
of opportunities that allow you to participate in a meaningful
way with the flexibility to participate as your schedule allows:
- Adoption Coordination –
working with our shelter partners to bring animals into
our program and find foster and adoptive
homes
- Fostering – providing
a temporary home for a rescued animal until a permanent
one can be found.
- Conducting home visits
– ensuring a potential adopter's home provides
a quality environment for our animals
- Transportation –
driving animals from our shelters partners, to and from
adoption events and medical visits and helping to meet transports
when they arrive.
- Events – provide
support for monthly adoption events and/or special fundraising
events throughout the year.
- Adoption Center –
working at PetMAC (www.petmac.org)
doing retail-oriented tasks such as helping customers, stocking
and running the register, during the week or weekends
- Marketing – helping
with writing and publications by preparing newsletters,
press releases, and fundraising letters
- Supply Drives – running
supply drives at schools and offices, or as an individual,
by collecting much needed pet supplies for our shelter partners
Homeward Trails promises to do our best to provide
volunteers with training, guidance and a strong support network
of other dedicated volunteers. And, you'll meet some
wonderful people along the way.

Volunteers
like Girl Scout Troop 870 help make a difference in the lives
of homeless animals. Through adoption events like this one
at PetMAC, Homeward Trails is able to bring dogs and adopters
together and hopefully find new homes. The girls helped handle
dogs and talk with potential adopters about their dogs. And
the dogs got some valuable socialization time and lots of
love and attention, too! The Girl Scouts also gathered much
needed supplies for our shelter partners during our December
shelter supply drive. Through their passion for animals and
desire to give back to their community, these Girl Scouts
are making a difference. You can, too. Please consider volunteering
with Homeward Trails.
