The Big Meow, a family friendly dance and music production adapted from the book by Elizabeth Spires, is the story of an ever-hopeful orange fluffball who desperately wants to belong to the band of neighborhood cats, but is ostracized for a “loud as a lion’s roar” meow. The Big Meow is a story of hope, disappointment, courage and the need for belonging. These simple themes are part of every neighborhood, but in this wonderful tale told through the experiences of  Little Cat, Baltimore based author Elizabeth Spires transforms a potential weakness into a unique strength.Several ‘in need’ cats ready for loving homes will be on view. You can adopt, donate cash or bring donated kitty litter and/or canned wet kitty food to support Homeward Trails.  Enjoy a performance of movement and theater with original music by Mark Sylvester and delightful choreography by Jane Franklin.

Jane Franklin has always collaborated with local artists from other disciplines and often incorporates live music, video, and the visual arts into her performances. In the family-friendly event, The Big Meow she has reached out to a different artistic form – the literary arts. Written, choreographed and performed locally, this show will delight audiences of all ages.
