This year’s calendar features photos of Capitals players Karl Alzner, Jay Beagle, John Carlson, Taylor Chorney, Matt Niskanen, Brooks Orpik, T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams with their dogs and Nicklas Backstrom, Andre Burakovsky, Braden Holtby, Marcus Johansson, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Michael Latta, Dmitry Orlov, Alex Ovechkin, Nate Schmidt and Tom Wilson with dogs from Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. There are a limited number of 2016 Caps Canine Calendars available and each will cost $20 with all proceeds benefiting Homeward Trails. The Homeward Trails Adoption Center is now open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM.  During these hours the public can now come  to one place to meet up to 45 great dogs looking for homes!

“With this expansion of our program by opening up to the public every weekend for extended hours, we are hopeful that we can rescue and place a lot more dogs, more quickly,” says Sue Bell, HT Executive Director. “We will be considering same day adoptions if applicants bring the necessary paperwork and if we have a dog who is a good fit. We are SO excited to be saving more lives and look forward to welcoming the public to our great shelter.”The HT Adoption Center is a unique, cageless shelter opened in December 2013. The canine residents live in social play groups where they enjoy indoor and outdoor playtime hours at a time.Visitors will get the chance to see the dogs interacting with other dogs, romping in the yards and putting their best paws forwardagility 3 in hopes of securing their forever home.

The fabulous ladies of Paws & Pinups have once again produced a beautiful calendar to benefit Homeward Trails. Last year’s Paws & Pinups calendar raised over $4,000 which helped provide much needed medical care for our animals and purchased supplies needed to increase the number of dogs we could house at the newly opened Homeward Trails Adoption Center.

The Paws & Pinups calendar spotlights DC-area ladies who are passionate about animal rescue, adoption and fostering. All the pets that appear in the calendar were adopted or rescued.  100% of the proceeds from calendar sales are donated to Homeward Trails

We are so honored to have been selected by the Washington Capitals as the beneficiaries of the Caps Canine Calendar for the second year in a row.  Our staff, volunteers and pups had a blast at the calendar photo shoot on October 17.  Here are some links to some of the media coverage of that day.  The calendar will be available for purchase in early December.
