We have morning and evening shifts available seven days a week and volunteers sign up at their convenience. There’s no set schedule so it’s whatever works for you!

During our week long camp held at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center located in Fairfax Station, VA, kids will learn all about animal rescue, responsible pet ownership, positive dog training, hear from a variety of pet professionals, and work hands on with carefully selected adoptable dogs while engaging in fun games and projects designed to reinforce what we have learned.

During summer 2018 Camp Waggin’ Tails will run from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (additional before and after camp hours may be available for an additional fee) Monday through Friday July 8-12

Help Homeward Trails secure critical supplies to care for our animals.  Every dollar in in-kind donations of supplies we receive means that we can spend that dollar on vet care and other important things we can’t get donated.

Please consider donating and asking your family and friends to do the same  Check out our wishlist here.

Thank you!

IMPORTANT: Please note that we do not receive donor information from Amazon. If you would like a receipt for your donation please send you contact information and a copy of your invoice to donate@homewardtrails.org.

Thank you so much!

Looking to do something fun and rewarding on the weekend?

Why not get started as a Homeward Trails Adoption Counselor? Adoption Counselors are volunteers who are trained specifically to interact with perspective adopters at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center! You will share info on the dogs, gather info from the applicant, work with the Adoption Center staff to ensure a good match…and potentially play a key role in sending dogs into their forever homes.
We need folks NOW who are willing to commit 3 hours on a weekend…just once a month! Just 3 hours can help send more dogs home more quickly, thus allowing us to have space to rescue more. Imagine – just 3 hours of your time can save dozens of lives!
You will be trained and fully supported by the HT staff as you get acclimated to your role. It’s fun, you’ll learn a lot and you’ll literally be saving lives.
Our next Adoption Counselor training session will be held on Friday, April 5 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center located in Fairfax Station, VA.
