Each year Homeward Trail spends thousands and thousands of dollars on supplies to care for our animals and support the general operations of our organization. We always strive to keep our costs as low as possible so that we can spend every extra dollar saving more lives. One simple way you can help is by donating these supplies – everything from postage stamps, to cleaning supplies, to ink catridges and paper, to dog and cat food and litter. Our wishlists are updated regularly so you can always find our most current needs. Please consider donating supplies to help us cover the cost of these items. The more we are able to get donated, the more animals we can help. Thank you!
Help us turn our transport vehicles into mobile advertisements for Homeward Trails and pet adoption!
Our vehicles travel hundreds of miles each week picking up animals from our rural shelter partners and driving back and forth to spay/neuter clinics. Hundreds of miles all over the DC area and beyond while we are missing an opportunity to encourage folk to adopt from us.
In fact, we have been driving our bus around for over two years, advertising for an organization that no longer provides pet adoption. It is past time to give it the HT treatment!
The talented (and animal loving staff) at Illusions Wraps is busy designing coordinating partial wraps for both vehicles and then we will have them fabricated and installed.
We also have opportunities to advertise your business on, or both, vehicles starting at just $250.
Our Adoption Center is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM. No appointment necessary!
Come see us at 11116 Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, VA 22039.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. OMG puppies! Tell me all about them… How many puppies will you bring? What kind of puppies do you have? How small are they?
Because we operate under the strictest of health/vaccine protocols to protect our puppies, we will not mix puppies from different litters unless they are fully vaccinated. Thus, we will guarantee 2 puppies for a party and will certainly bring more if we have eligible puppies at that time. Please note that we cannot confirm the number or types of puppies until a few days before your party as we have no way to predict what puppies will need rescuing and will be in our system until that time.
2. Can this puppypalooza be outside?
Please note that we permit outdoor parties only when the temperature is between 65 and 75 degrees. If the temperature is lower than 65 or higher than 75, an indoor location must be secured.
3. What do you provide for this amazing experience?
We bring the following items:
puppies
water bowls
enclosure
4. What do I need to provide for these darling angels?
The host must provide floor covering. Newspapers and/or puppy pads are fine.
5. Can we let the puppies eat anything? Or are their sweet, wittle, round baby bellies too sensitive?
We ask that NO FOOD OR TREATS of any kind be given to the pups during the party.
6. What are your parking needs? Are the puppies being driven by a puppy chauffeur or delivered by drone?
For all parties, a secured and free (automobile) parking spot must be made available for the volunteer. If free parking is not available, it is the responsibility of the host to cover any parking costs.
7. How is payment handled? Please tell me how to give you my money so we can get these babies here to shower with adoration!
All puppy party payments must be made via PayPal invoice. You do not need a PayPal account to pay. You will receive an e-mail and invoice shortly after reserving the date of your party.
8. Can you provide insurance? (Who knew puppy party insurance was a thing? That’s so neat! We want some of that!)
If a certificate of insurance is required at your location there is an additional cost of $102.25. COIs must be requested and paid for no later than 5 business days before your event.
9. COVID, ew. How do we stay safe?
The volunteer bringing the puppies to your event will be fully vaccinated and masked for the duration of the party.
10. This sounds like the best thing ever!! How do I book?!
Children are the future of animal welfare and we have long been thinking of ways to get our youth more involved in Homeward Trails in a way that is safe, fun, and educational. We have run a very popular and successful summer camp for the last 7 years and want to be able to increase the number of youth served and spread their impact throughout the year.
Each program will run one Friday evening a month in person at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center located in Fairfax Station, VA.
Pet Pals Parents Night Out
Children Ages 6-12
Cost: $40 per session
Next Session: June 24
6:00 PM – 9:30 PM
8 spaces available
Parents and caregivers can enjoy a few hours to themselves while the kids have a great time hanging out at the Adoption Center.
Pet Pals Parents Night Out is mix of humane education and fun for our youngest animal lovers. Each monthly session will follow a theme and feature a short lesson, a project to help the animals, a craft to take home, a movie (maybe with a furry friend), pizza and drinks.
Geared toward our middle and high school age animal advocates the Homer’s Shelter Helpers program is based around community service with a side of fun. We will start each session with dinner and a discussion topic to help youth learn more about understanding animals, shelter operations, and animal advocacy. We will then dive into volunteering around the shelter – sorting donations, cleaning, organizing supplies, making enrichment toys, or caring for our kitties. Youth can earn 2.5 community service hours per session.
The wait is over…our brand new Homeward Trails Shop is open! Thank you to Athletes Mark for making this happen!
Items will be made to order right here in Virginia, and many are customizable. Our shop will continue to evolve, with new designs added each month – so be sure to bookmark it and check back periodically!
We are thrilled to announce our “Express Trail Home” events featuring free and reduced adoption fees on select cats and dogs the last Saturday of every month.
