Support Homeward Trails and honor the Washington Capitals Tom Wilson, an awesome HT supporter, on Friday, December 21 at The Big Stick.

After Tom Wilson went down in Vegas fans nationwide had tons to say about it. The Big Stick decided to make lemons into lemonade and hold a fundraiser for one of his favorite charities – Homeward Trails! A $10 donation to HT gets you access to exclusive drink options including a Reeves (cheap) shot (1 cent), a rock the red old fashioned, 50 cent wings and a Hellbender Beer Red Line kick the keg (if you kick it you get a prize). There will also be some great raffle items up for grabs.

What a great opportunity to have a last minute holiday get together with friends and support a great cause and a great guy!

We had so much fun at the Caps Canine Calendar photo shoot!  Homeward Trails is so excited to be chosen as the beneficiary of the calendar for the 6th year in the row. To date the calendar has raised more than $250,000 for Homeward Trails. The 2019 calendar is now available for purchase on the Washington Capitals website.  Snag one for yourself and some great holiday gifts for your favorite hockey fans before they sell out!

We’ve made it to the final round of voting in the Nellis Group‘s 100th Home for Charity contest. Please vote for Homeward Trails to help us have a chance to win first prize of more than $4,00 to help our animals in need. We won money the last two years and we know we can do it again with your help. Please vote once per day from now until December 11 and ask your family and friends to do the same.

Our biggest year end fundraising day is November 27 and we need your help!  Giving Tuesday allows us to finish the year saying YES and go into 2019 saving lives..
We’ve had an incredibly busy year. To date, more than 2,500 animals have been rescued. Almost 40% of these have a special need that makes them candidates for euthanasia. But with your support, we are able to give them the medical care they need to get well and find that loving home they deserve.
Giving Tuesday is the most popular online fundraising day of the year because it urges people to think of gifts to charitable organizations after the official start of the holiday shopping season. Together hundreds of donations large and small add up to thousands of dollars for our animals!
Our goal is to raise $30,000.
Will you help us reach our goal and make 2019 our biggest year for rescuing animals? With your help, we can make it happen!

The holidays are a magical time – food, friends, family. But for some animals, it can be hard. The weather has turned cold, shelters are full, but the kitties still need help. It can also be a challenging time for animal rescues like us. We rely on wonderful fosters who open up their home to make sure our cats are well cared for, safe, warm, and ready to find their forever homes.

But the holidays can take some of our fosters away from home. Going into the holidays, we have over 125 cats in our program and due to many foster families traveling we are unable to take in more cats until we find a place for all our current kitties to go.

This year we’re hoping for some Holiday Heroes to step up and open their homes. Whether you’ve never fostered before or it’s been a while, we are looking for any animal lovers (or anyone who wants to start loving animals) in DC, Maryland, and Virginia to become fosters at least through the end of the year. It’s less than two months and a foster home can literally mean the difference between life and death for a shelter cat.

We have mellow or active; kittens or seniors; long hair or short hair; singles, pairs, or cat- and/or dog-friendly cats and can find the right fit for your situation. Supplies, training and plenty of support provided!
