Cookie is a stunning young American Foxhound with a sleek frame, long legs, and a curious nose always ready for the next great adventure. Weighing in at 46 pounds, he’s the perfect mid-size companion for someone who loves the outdoors as much as he does.

Cookie Personality: This handsome hound is the best of both worlds—athletic and energetic outside, but calm and relaxed at home once his exercise needs are met. Cokie isn’t a velcro dog or a couch cuddler; instead, he prefers to unwind solo in his crate, enjoying his own quiet corner. But don’t let his independence fool you—he’s friendly, social, and always happy to meet new people and dogs. He just marches to the beat of his own hound-y drum.

Smart, Trainable & Crate-Happy: Cookie is housebroken, crate trained, and highly food-motivated—he’s already mastered “sit,” “stay,” “lie down,” “shake,” and “go to your bed”!

Social and Gentle: Cookie loves other dogs, is gentle with children, and is friendly with new people. While he hasn’t met any cats yet, his low prey drive suggests he may be able to coexist peacefully with them.

Cookie Personality Plus: True to his Foxhound roots, Cokie has a classic hound voice and isn’t afraid to use it—especially when he’s excited or has energy to burn. He’s learning that quiet time can be rewarding, too, and regular exercise helps him feel his best.

A Bit About His Past: Cookie came to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue from a rural shelter in South Carolina. He’s now looking for a forever family that will see him for who he is: a beautiful, intelligent, and good-natured pup with tons of potential.
