Sarah came to Homeward Trails in late 2025. After living outside most of her life, she is slowly learning what it's like to be an inside dog in the care of a wonderful foster family. She's seeking a home with family members to work slowly with her as she gets to know them and her new environment. Her current fosters report that she is so gentle and calm!
-KNOWN WITH DOGS: Sarah grew up with her two sisters so is used to other dogs but there are no other dogs in her current foster home. Having another confident dog in the house could really benefit Sarah long term. The other dog would most likely just need to be willing to give Sarah a few days to get used to them without overwhelming her.
-KNOWN WITH CATS: Sarah is living with a cat in her current foster home and doing great! She still seems to be a little scared of the cat but she and her foster cat sister are very willing to just leave each other alone and are coexisting peacefully!
-KNOWN WITH KIDS: Sarah has shown no signs of aggression despite being really scared so she would most likely be fine with kids. She would just need her new family to be willing to give her time to gain confidence in a new environment, and would prefer a quieter, less busy household.
-KNOWN CUES: None yet, she is a work in progress!
-KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Sarah is amazing in a crate, it is currently her safe space and where she likes to spend the majority of her time. Sarah's current fosters are working on housebreaking but Sarah is still working on being comfortable outdoors in open areas on a leash. She will most likely need her new home to continue this work.
-KNOWN LIKES: Sarah loves her crate and other small spaces currently. As her personality comes out though, she is trying to explore more! She has also been able to play with plush toys in safe spaces!
-KNOWN DISLIKES: None at the moment, she is really just so scared right now. With work though, she can be socialized to most environments and will make a wonderful dog!
Notes from the foster: Sarah has lived her entire life in an outdoor pen with her two sisters but is now really enjoying the indoor life. She needs a patient adopter who will help her blossom into the wonderful dog we all know she can be. Sarah is still adjusting though currently and is still lacking confidence to do most things. She needs the right adopter who will take the time to help her build up her trust in people and help socialize her. She would probably be the most successful in a quiet neighborhood and in a home with a fenced yard where she can roam and build her confidence safely.
