Come meet adoptable dogs every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at our Adoption Center located at 11116 Fairfax Station Rd. Fairfax Station, VA 22039. We can also schedule time to meet a specific dog at the Adoption Center during the week by appointment - just fill out the application and we will follow up with you!

Meet Dakota, the charming and lively 7-month-old Hound dog who steals hearts wherever he goes. With his gleaming, honey-colored fur and sparkling eyes, Dakota's irresistible appearance is only surpassed by his playful and friendly personality.

Even at such a young age, he exhibits a keen understanding of the world around him, always eager to explore and learn new things. His sharp mind is a constant source of amazement to his human companions.

Playfulness is Dakota's middle name. Whether it's a game of fetch in the backyard or a rousing session of tug-of-war with his favorite rope toy, Dakota's enthusiasm is infectious. He bounds around with boundless energy, inviting everyone to join in on the fun. His joy is simply contagious, bringing smiles to the faces of all who are lucky enough to be in his presence.

But Dakota's endearing qualities go beyond his playful nature. He possesses an innate friendliness that makes him an instant hit with humans and other animals alike. He's the first to greet visitors with a wagging tail and a friendly lick, always eager to make new friends. Dakota's is the perfect companion for families, as he adores children and has a gentle and patient nature.

Dakota's smarts also translate into his exceptional trainability. He quickly grasps new commands and relishes the opportunity to learn. His owners are continually amazed at how quickly he picks up new tricks and behaviors, making him a star pupil in obedience classes. Dakota's intelligence, combined with his eagerness to please, make him a dream to train.

When not captivating hearts with his charm, Dakota enjoys long walks in the park, exploring new scents, and going on adventures with his family. He's a natural explorer, always curious about the world around him. Dakota's insatiable curiosity ensures that no stone is left unturned on his quest for knowledge and new experiences.

With his playful and friendly disposition, combined with his remarkable intelligence, Dakota the 7-month-old Hound dog is truly a special companion. Whether he's amusing everyone with his antics or cuddling up for a well-deserved rest, Dakota brings joy, laughter, and endless love to all those fortunate enough to call him their friend.

This puppy is around 30 lbs now but still growing. He is likely to be 40-60 lbs when he is full grown. Dakota made his way to Homeward Trails from a rural Virginia shelter.
