Sally is a shy girl who obviously hasn't had much human affection in her life until now. It took her about a month to start wagging her tail, and it usually happens only when she's near her foster brother.
She takes cues and confidence from other dogs, so she will be much more comfortable in a home with a confident resident dog. She much prefers to spend her time in the same room as her foster brother when her foster mom is at work.
She is learning to enjoy pets from her foster mom, even though she's still a little scared and will do a little crouch when she's being petted. She's an easy girl to take care of, and mostly does her business outside in the yard or on her short walks. She likes sniffing around and exploring the yard. If she can't hold it until the dog walker arrives or until her foster mom gets home, she's very good about using her pee pads.
Her foster mom has been taking her for short, slow walks, as Sally is still afraid of strangers, loud noises, sudden movements and cars. She accepts gentle pets from a 4-yr old child well. Now that she's settling in a bit, she'll make little squeaky grunts when she's happy. No barking or howling yet at all. Seeing her wag her tail for the first time was the best!

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters.
