Boots is a handsome and wonderfully gentle and sweet 5 year old male foxhound. He weighs about 60lbs. Boots is a very affectionate boy who rolls over for belly rubs.

He's a laid-back boy who is loves long walks and then is happy to chill in the house. Boots is fantastic with other dogs and pretty much ignores cats. He a pleasure to walk on the leash as he doesn't pull or keep his nose to the ground. Boots loves the great outdoors and would love a home with a fenced yard to hang out in with his human but would also be fine without a yard.

Boots loves company and occasionally gets anxious when left alone so he'd be happiest in a home where he had a lot of companionship. Boots is a friend to everyone, young and old..

The Declaration of Independence states that "all men are created equal." We think that is true of dogs as well. But ask any hound owner and they'll tell you, some dogs are more equal than others. If you want to understand why hound owners feel that way there is one great way to do that -- adopt Trevor!

If you've already been bitten by the hound bug, then Trevor's photo might be enough to convince you to adopt him -- you might be halfway through the paperwork already. But if you are new to hounds and Trevor's southern aristocratic good looks are not enough for you, here are some other things that might convince you.

Trevor is laid back, artfully lazy, and knows how to utilize his big brown eyes to get you to do whatever he wants. Luckily for you, Trevor wants your love, your protection, and probably a few more treats. "Trevor," you'll say, "I think one treat is enough." Trevor will drop his head on your lap, lift his eyes up to your face, and let out a big sigh. To which you will reply, "you're right Trevor, one treat is definitely not sufficient. What was I thinking?"

Adopting Trevor is probably the smartest thing you will ever do in your life. And when you adopt Trevor, it will obviously happen because of your own free will and not because he is using his mind control eyes to make you fall in love with him and give him additional treats. Trevor is also definitely not in the room with me staring at me as I type this. Hold on a second while I get some more treats.

Mind control eyes or no, I can tell you honestly that Trevor is the type of dog you will compare all future dogs to. If you adopt Trevor (and you should, he's amazing), you are going to discover exactly what those bumper-stickers mean that say "who rescued who?"

If you think you're ready to have a hound dog in your life, stop by the Homeward Trails Adoption Center today to meet Trevor. And bring a few treats.

Say hello to Toby! A very sweet dog who thought he had found his forever home, only to be dropped off at a shelter (along with his sister) when his owner moved.

So Toby finds himself in unfamiliar territory, at a rescue organization searching for his true forever home. Toby is just five years old, only just beginning to enter the prime of his life, but his personality is that of an older, calmer dog. Toby is very friendly, wags his tail early and often, loves to be petted, and really just wants to be near you.

But Toby is not a playful, roughhousing kind of dog. Toby likes other dogs, but has no interest in playing with them. More of a sit on the sidelines and hang out with the humans, kind of dog. Toby also doesn't have any hunting instincts, so the neighborhood cats, squirrels, and birds are safe.

What Toby does enjoy is taking long walks, or running around a yard. Once he's burned off some energy, Toby will be looking for a lap to jump into for a long nap.

If you are looking for an easier to adopt dog, there won't be any easier (and more satisfying) than Toby. He's already house trained, leash trained, and knows basic commands. If you provide the forever home, Toby will supply the unconditional love, guaranteed.

Please stop by the Homeward Trails Adoption Center to meet Toby, he deserves a one-and-for-all forever home.
