Take Caution for Pets on the 4th of July!
4th of July is a fun, outdoor for the whole family – except for some of our four-legged friends.
With temps in the high nineties, it will be extremely hot for pets on the 4th. Beware that sidewalks and especially roads (where many holiday street fairs take place) will be in excess of one hundred and fifty degrees. Your pets will quickly burn their paws and overheat. Do NOT take this chance. Leave your pet at home.
When the fireworks start, many animals become fearful. Do not leave home without ensuring your windows and doors are securely shut. Animals that become fearful may often try to escape through doors and windows. And if you bring your pet with you to watch the fireworks, he/she may slip a collar and bolt if the loud noises make him fearful.
Finally, NEVER leave your pet in a hot car. Cars can heat up to temps above one hundred degrees in a matter of minutes. Do not take this chance. Play it safe and leave your pets at home.
Be smart and be thoughtful. Do not put your pet in danger this holiday! Burnt paws and loud noises are no picnic for pets.
Happy and Safe 4th of July from Homeward Trails!
