Help Us Give These Very Special Pets a 2nd Chance At Life
The animals featured here are some of the hundreds who have treatable but costly illnesses and injuries that Homeward Trails rescues every year. We have limited resources and must make life and death decisions weekly. Too often, these animals are left behind in shelters simply due to cost. We need extra help to take in animals whose care will cost more and for animals who may be with us longer as they recover.
Your sponsorship of an animal will save a life in real time. Every donation helps save a life.
Please, consider a tax-deductible donation today to help these animals. They deserve a 2nd chance at life. And together, we can give them that.
ARIANA
She’s heartworm positive
Ariana was found as a stray and taken into a rural shelter. She made it out of the shelter and to Homeward Trails, but when she arrived, she tested positive for heartworm disease. She’s only a year old so should have a long life ahead of her. But heartworm disease can be deadly if untreated. We’re glad Ariana was found and came to us so she can get lifesaving treatment. But it comes with a steep price tag. Please help cover these costs so we can help her and other dogs like her who need extra help.
MAC
He needs a biopsy!
Mac developed a strange lump on his leg. It popped up out of nowhere, so we need to have it biopsied. We can’t make sure he doesn’t need additional care unless we know what we’re dealing with. It also makes the chances of him finding an adopter to take on the unknown much less likely. Please get Mac ready for the rest of his life!
DUKE
13 year old Beagle is in rough shape
Duke recently arrived from a rural shelter where he spent his whole life living outside. Duke was never neutered, he needs a dental, and he has several masses all over his body. Is if that weren’t enough, Duke also has a heart murmur. Duke needs x-rays, cardiac function test, and blood work to see if his body is strong enough for surgery. His teeth are in terrible and have to be causing him considerable pain so the dental will be extensive. At 13, we want to give Duke the best and most comfortable golden years possible. Please help us get him the care he needs.
NORA
She’s battling diabetes
Nora was diagnosed with diabetes last year and started receiving insulin injections. Her human became ill around the same time and couldn’t give her the care she needed so Nora came back to Homeward Trails. She is due for repeat lab work to make sure her glucose levels are being well controlled with the insulin. Not to mention the insulin itself isn’t cheap. Please help us cover the cost of some of her care so we can get her in the best shape possible and ready for a new home!
6 SHEPHERD PUPPIES
Battling parvo!
They started vomiting and having crippling diarrhea this morning. At only 7 weeks old, they’re so delicate and can crash in a matter of minutes. We got them into the vet and they tested positive for parvovirus. Parvo can be deadly, especially in puppies as young as these are, if not treated quickly and aggressively. They will require IV fluids and antibiotics to help their bodies fight the virus off. This makes it very expensive to treat, especially for a whole litter of puppies. Please help them get the care they need now!
DOUBLOON
Needs surgery to repair a hernia!
Doubloon has a small hernia that needs to be repaired. He’s still a kitten and it was identified early, so with a quick repair Doubloon shouldn’t face any complications. But without surgical intervention, it could get progressively worse. Please help Doubloon get the surgery he needs and back to chasing his toys in no time!
